OF PLYMOUTH PLANTATiON

"What could now sustain them but the Spirit of God and His grace? May not and ought not the children of these fathers rightly say: "Our fathers were Englishmen which came over this great ocean, and were ready to perish in this wilderness; but they cried unto the Lord, and He heard their voice and looked on their adversity," etc. "Let them therefore praise the Lord, because He is good: and His mercies endure forever." "Yea, let them which have been redeemed of the Lord, show how He hath delivered them from the hand of the oppressor. When they wandered in the desert wilderness out of the way, and found no city to dwell in, both hungry and thirsty, their soul was overwhelmed in them. Let them confess before the Lord His loving kindness and His wonderful works before the sons of men." (Bradford)

Reflection: After reading this story I really began to understand what the people coming to American had to go through. I also began to have compassion for them since they had to stick it out with such hard circumstances. Furthermore I admired how these people kept there faith through it all. No matter what they continued to praise and worship the one they knew to help them in their times of need. This applies to my everyday life because its help me to have a better understanding of faith and that for good things to happen you have to keep your faith and not give up.

Dear Diary,

Our journey to America was long and hard and everyone knew that once we reached the destination that everyone would be happy and that God was certainly the one to thank because by his grace we were brought to America. Since everyone seemed happy to reach land and arrive at to this great world groups began to wonder to see what could be found. Everyone began to become hungry and thirsty but through the midst of everything that was going we still continued to glorify the God that we served.

One of the biggest issues that is talked about in our country is immigration and how people from all over the world are migrating into our country illegally. But what is the real issue with people from other countries searching for a better life. Is it that they live here without paying taxes, or is the real issue that Americans do not want aliens in out country. In this political cartoon the state of liberty is holding a bill that says "Immigration Reform Bill", which states "send us your best and brightest point-getters, yearning to raise our G.D.P. All the others pay a fine of $5,000 and maybe you can stay." This proves that Americans only want people from other countries if they are will be bring in some money for the economy. Which goes to show that America can come across cold-hearted, as if they do not care for people and their feelings. All in all by immigration being such a big topic of discussion and America only wanting these people here for financial reasons it goes to show that America is not all that it is made out to be.
